In 1995, Uschi Kolb founded the Galerie Haus Schneider in Karlsruhe/Ettlingen, already establishing the programmatic foundations for her current activities. With exhibitions by artists such as Wes Mills, Raymond Pettibon, John Wesley, Gabriele Basch, Johannes Hüppi, Marco Neri and Pia Stadtbäumer, the gallery–s program of exhibitions and art mediation focuses on forms of artistic expression that are aimed at the senses, and have a potential to irritate as well as to incite curiosity and reflection.
In 2006, the gallery – now Galerie Haus Schneider USCHI KOLB – moved to a new location in close proximity to the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (Zentrum für Kunst und Medien, ZKM), the Municipal Gallery Karlsruhe (Städtischen Galerie Karlsruhe), and the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe, HFG). These institutions, which place Karlsruhe firmly on the international art map, provide an enriching exchange framework for the gallery, consolidating Karlsruhe–s status as a city for art.
The list of artists represented by the gallery, which has been continually expanded since 1995, is currently undergoing a renewed period of expansion with mainly international artists. The work shown reflects contemporary approaches in the fields of painting, sculpture, photography, new media, and installation. With exhibitions, catalogues, participation in international art fairs, and exchange programs with the gallery–s partners in the USA and Russia, the gallery supports the long-term development and establishment of its artists.
For interested art lovers, collectors and institutions, as well as companies and businesses, the gallery is ready to offer advice, information, and organizational support, also assisting with the building up of collections.
